A Magnificent Success Story - "The Phenomenon Bruno Groening Documentary Film" playing for 20 years Worldwide..
Everything big start small. In the case of the Documentary film “The Phenomenon Bruno Groening” this expression has turned out to be true in more ways than one. Usually, documentary films are shown only a few times and then never again. It is different with this film. For 20 years, it has been playing worldwide with great success in movie theaters, venues and halls. Despite the fact that films with spiritual content are still quite rare in commercial movie theaters, “The Phenomenon Bruno Groening” had been shown approximately 14,000 times in about 100 countries. An estimated 360,000 visitors have seen the film, many were awed by it.
For quite some time within the Bruno Groening Circle of Friends, the aspiration had existed to create a movie about the life of Bruno Groening (1906-1959). In 1993, after the completion and release of the movie “The Miracle Apostle” this new more extensive project began. Altogether, this documentary film took nine years of focused effort. Bruno Groening Friends spent the whole of 1994 researching and preparing. They examined substantial archived material, studied numerous eyewitness reports. visited original locations from Gdansk in Poland to Paris and collected more and more facts. Original recordings from film archives, including interviews. Hundreds of photos, sides and documents were filmed. In addition, the film team scripted and shot elaborate re-enactments scenes. The first take was in February 1995, the last interviews were recorded at the beginning of 2000; and the last documents were included in 2002.
Over 70 hours of filmed material was created. Once edited, it quickly became clear that it was impossible to fulfill the original objective of creating a movie that could be viewed in one evening. The breadth of subject could not be covered in two hours, nor could the life of Bruno Groening be made to fit in a regular format. The solution was to create a five-hour film divided into three parts.
In the 1050s, Bruno Groening attracted worldwide attention through extraordinary healings. In the spring of 1949, thousands of help-seeking people streamed to Herford in Germany. In the autumn of that year, up to 30,000 were drawn daily to the Traberhorf in Rosenheim Germany – masses of ill and afflicted people. They all had only one goal: Bruno Groening. For many, he was their last hope. Struck down by the war, abandoned by their doctors, these people had only one wish, to become healthy, to be freed from misery and pain – Bruno Groening might help them, and he did.
There is no incurable – “God is the greatest physician “were his words. The incomprehensible occurred: countless ill people became healthy – the lame could walk, and the blind could see again.
But soon opposing powers stirred. Many doctors became critical of these events. The press turned toward sensationalism; slander was circulated. The authorities got involved. The courts accused him of violating the Non-Medical Practitioners Act – erroneously, as it later turned out.
The documentary film impressively illustrates the dramatic events of that time. Openly, objectively and sensitively, it sheds light of the different stages of Bruno Groenings life and work. Re-enactments of the powerful events at the Traberhorf in Roseinheim provide some of the most touching and elaborate movie scenes. Preparations for those scenes required weeks of effort. More than 2000 extras were needed. Hundreds of costumes were sourced. The film team and technical equipment were gathered, and permits were obtained.
Finally, the day of release came on October 3, 2003. The documentary film: “The Phenomenon Bruno Groening” premiered in Berlin and Munich. Shortly thereafter, other movie theatres in German-speaking countries followed suit. Screening left favorable impressions on viewers in Germany, Vienna, Switzerland and in the Netherlands.
At the end of March 2005. “The Phenomenon Bruno Groening film” made the leap across the Atlantic Ocean. New York was the first place the film was shown in the English-speaking world. Here too, the film was met with great enthusiasm and touched viewers hearts and minds. Another highlight followed on April 22, 2009; the film opened the well-known International Documentary Film Festival in Gdansk, Poland – the birthplace of Bruno Groening. Following this event, the film was shown in more and more theaters, and now runs successfully worldwide, in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
However, the film is more than a documentary look into the past. Many visitors report that while watching the film they suddenly feel a power, a tingling, a streaming in their bodies, which is a new experience for man. Some even report the disappearance of pains, disabilities and other afflictions. Bruno Groening died in 1959. Yet today, extraordinary healings still take place. How is it possible? The power that worked through Bruno Groening at that time can still be experience today. Aside from healings of illnesses, many people also report healings of addictions or help divers crises in life or following blows of fate.
How magnificent that healings take place only by watching a film? Doctors confirm these successes. The makers of this film are surprised that visitors experience and report such things, but they happen. “None of us could foresee these effects”, declares co-director Thomas Eich. Just as Bruno Groening predicted: “Healings shall take place all over the world.
The documentary film, “The Phenomenon Bruno Groening” confirms that what happened in those days is still possible today.
